Re: Application by Hydro One and Milton Hydro Board File # EB 2008-0389
Dear Ms Walli,
We are writing in response to your letter of January 13, 2009 received January 15, 2009. We wish to object to the application by Hydro One Networks Inc. and Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. to change our hydro supplier to Hydro One. For over thirty-four years, Milton Hydro has been our hydro supplier and during that time has provided excellent service. We are considered residents of Milton for the purposes of elections, taxes and garbage pick-up, etc. so do not understand why this change in service is necessary.
It would seem that we are being forced to deal with a supplier that we are unfamiliar with who may be less able, due to a large customer base, to provide the excellent service we have experienced with Milton Hydro. We are also forced to pay more for hydro delivery under Hydro One. Your letter indicated that we would have an increase of $ 40.15 per monthly bill. In actual fact our delivery charge increased $ 62.40 from our December, 2008 to our January, 2009 bill. It is unfair that in these difficult financial times we are not given a choice but are being told that the change is to occur.
We feel that we were given an unreasonable length of time to respond to your proposal. Many people are on holidays or ill at this time of year and indeed your correspondence and the fact that our delivery charges have already increased indicates that the proposal is already a "fait accompli".
Please accept this letter, without prejudice, as a request that we remain customers of Milton Hydro and that you allow an oral hearing regarding Board File EB-2008-0389
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Don and Jean Furness,
